POPLIN (linen) .....originaly manufactured by Popering's (Belgium) people

From the past, just after the middle ages (ca. 1330) a lot of Popering's inhabitants worked at home on their private waeving-loom;
after complications, the plague epidemics, a great journey to England, the English need to textile stuff.....
and there it was.... the name" POPELINE or POPELIENE " Nowadays we know that "poplin" is a fine sort of linen
The textile art in Engeland, from Popering's former inhabitants and practised by them,
was growing to one of the world's finest sort of linen
For example, think in this relation about " damask "
Damask comes from Damascus (also a geografic relation)
